What the consensus on the type of pin mounts you guys are using? The zinc coated (steel?) ones are a good deal cheaper than stainless or aluminum. And with everything I'm doing to my boat, I like cheap. Other than faster corrosion, is there any issues using a zinc coated base? This will be bolted directly to my painted aluminum deck and rear bench.

Something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SWIVL-EZE-7 ... _164wt_904

Also, what size bases are you guys using? I'm assuming the 7 x 7 is going to be stronger than something like the 4 x 8 or similar.

I believe zinc is less water (and possibly weather) resistant than stainless steel. If its on the deck and will rarely if ever get wet or face extreme elements then it probably won't matter too much... But if its going to be somewhat permenantly installed into the deck why hassle yourself later if you can prevent it now with stainless steel right?

Parts + shipping on ebay is more than the cost of a stainless steel or aluminum version at acadamey or walmart. If there's any way you can get to one of those stores with a reasonable amount of travel, I'd go that route.

Thanks. I do have a local Wal-Mart with a decent boat section. Planning on checking them out there over the weekend.

Don't forget that in a lot of cases you can order online from walmart with free delivery to your local store for pickup.

I'd go stainless, do it once and be done. Check this site: jmsonline.net

I get my parts in one day.
