Can the transom be redone without the splashwell or is splashwell needed?

Ask yourself that question when a wave comes over the back

My boat has one. I've never had water come up over the transom and probably never will considering my fishing style. But, if it did, I would be glad to have the splash well. Beyond that, I would think it has to add considerable structure to the transom. It is also convenient to store your gaso tank and battery under. At this point I'm used to it being there. Doesn't bother me.

Curious why you want to eliminate the spashwell?

I'd be afraid to be without one since I like tiller boats which have a lot of weight at the rear.
16 ft Sea Nymph w/30 Johnson
14 ft Monark w/25 Merc XD sold
1994 Lowe 1605 w/50 Evinrude sold
14 ft Lone Star w/15hp Evinrude sold

A picture of the boat would be helpful, My tinboat never had one and has stayed afloat since 66 but some boats may be designed with it neccecary

I would probably keep it, I've seen how low those boats sit in the water.
