Weather -

Thanks for the well wishes! In Maryland it’s fine as long as you have heat and shelter, and it’s deadly if you don’t. In the 5 minute walk from my office to my car, my nose went numb and I was seriously uncomfortable (I do not chill easily - I ride a motorcycle in below freezing weather and went fly...

Re: FaceBook Tin Boaters, lets help our site.

I went to FB back about '05 when only .edu accounts were the only way to "join". I registered as "Tony Tiger" and gave the site a looksee. Honestly, my first impression was,"this will be great for 13 year old girls." Never went back. SF said; it’s not the right tool for anything purporting to any r...

Craigslist finds

https://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/boa/d/lund-ssv-16-alaskan-1999-with/6413873583.html This is tempting and good price, I think. Is it even fixable though? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Not trying to be a wise guy, but do they do salvage titles for boats? It sure looks like this boat was previ...

Re: By now, everyone has heard about the Intel issue....

Yeah, that’s a mess. I think the most likely targets will be cloud providers though. This vulnerability mostly makes an existing penetration more serious - as I understand it, it would be unlikely to permit someone to infect your computer from scratch. But it’s tailor made to attack the hypervisors ...

Re: FaceBook Tin Boaters, lets help our site.

I hope tb stays a forums site and does not migrate to Facebook. I agree. We will never go to Facebook, that's a promise. It is just a tool to help grow the community. I belong to some facebook pages that deal with boat mods, but after a quick look, they posts get buried and you cant find them again...

Re: Odd hooking setup on glide baits?

Fluorocarbon is supposed to have the same refractive index as water. Which is great when the water is clear, but clear fluorocarbon will still stand out in turbid or stained water. I had seen big jointed bluegill lures, but I didn’t know what they were called until now. Thanks! If I spent $60 on a l...

Re: Skunk Fun

I like the idea of a lure-recovery rod. The nymphs I was using were too small to be seen at that distance, but the bobbers weren’t. And when bass fishing, I’ve lost a Rapala or two to shabby casting, and seen salvage opportunities as well.

Thanks for the tip!

Re: Wrapping up 2017

I’m impressed by how consistently you get fish in the boat.

Trout seem to have a higher IQ than I do.

Re: Skunk Fun

I caught myself in the ear today, but mercifully only with the strike indicator (really a bobber - strike indicator seems so pretentious).

I think I lost my hits because I am so used to circle hooks from my Chesapeake Bay trips that my hooksets were weak.

Skunk Fun

I went fly fishing for wild trout today at Gunpowder Falls state park in Maryland. I hooked up twice, but both times the trout spit my size 16 hare’s ear nymph before I landed it. The first one threw the hook by leaping like a 7” long sailfish though - it was pretty astonishing. That said even thoug...

I'm looking for suggestions on where to go on a fishing trip

If you want a Walleye destination that is a lot closer, you could do Deep Creek Lake in Maryland. There’s also a lot of trout water in that area and a good bass fishery if you want some variety.

Re: Painting problem..Johnny and anyone else, too, please.

Where a paint shop will nail you is in the prep work unless you’re willing to do it yourself. Painting happens rapidly in a booth. But getting a sound layer for it to adhere to sounds like a nightmare.

Nice! When I went out pier fishing a while back, the Rattle Trap was the only thing the stripers had any interest in at all.

Re: New boat....hopefully

Even I wouldn't haul my tinny 700 miles for a few days of fishing. If you happen to come close to Crossville, TN., and it's in the Summer, I'll take you out. I might very well take you up on that. We usually stop for the night in Ozone to visit my aunt and uncle. I think that’s about 15 miles east ...
