Duck Hunting?

Thanks! I have about as much open space as a 14’ semi v can have without cutting out seats.

That’s going to be fantastic! Please tell me you are doing a tartan soft top with matching swim trunks.

Your motor looks better than the one in the marketing materials.

They have a nice set of punt and battery guns at the Chesapeake Maritime Museum in St. Michaels. Those things look bigger in person.

2004 mercury 9.9 pro kicker 4 stroke --no water

Was it running well and then stopped flowing a lot of water, or is it new to you so you don’t know the history?

I just replaced the impeller in a 3.5 Johnson, and it flows well even at idle.

New guy with a project boat.

I think the bearings do ok. I towed mine home 800 miles on the interstate from my inlaws and they did fine. I need to repack them, but that’s because I procrastinated and the night before I had to leave, I discovered that my grease seals had been damaged in shipping. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Duck Hunting?

So, having moved to Maryland relatively recently, I’ve got it in my head that I want to try duck hunting. One thing that gives me a bit of pause is that duck hunting boats seem even more specialized than fishing boats. I can whip up a diy blind without too much drama, but I’m wondering what else mig...

Line conversion chart

I think the reason this is so hard is that even if you limit yourself to a specific type of line, say, nylon monofilament, there is enough variation among manufacturers that specifying x yards of y lb test will have errors that piss people off. The different companies use different resins and manufa...

10 lbs. of boat on a 5 lb. trailer

I don’t have a ton of general advice, except to say that you’re intuition that the boat needs more support is correct, and that bunks are generally better than rollers (other than keel rollers in combination with bunks). One tip I would offer is that instead of using carpet on the bunks, I used trex...

New guy with a project boat.

I too cursed the 8” wheels on the trailer for my 14’ Starcraft, but I think I’ve figured it out. Mine is a tilting trailer, and I think they did it to get the boat closer to the ground to make it easier to launch without the benefit of a proper boat ramp. That’s my theory, and I’m sticking to it sin...

Sometimes, a good fishing day isn’t on the water.

The white perch I’m talking about are from the bass family. They’re common in fresh and salt water, and love estuaries like the Chesapeake. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_perch I didn’t know it until I went to grab that link, but apparently white crappie are also called white perch, but that’...

Sometimes, a good fishing day isn’t on the water.

So, a week ago, I nearly got skunked night fishing on the Chesapeake. My buddy and I eventually got into some good white perch right by the ramp. Initially, I fished a small crank bait and was catching about one juvenile striped bass for every white perch. This was pretty irritating, especially beca...

Wow, this looks great! I’m really impressed by the paintwork.

Also, kudos for having a Photobucket account that actually loads photos.

I’m glad to hear that you’re on the mend. That sounds awful.

Good luck with your more complete recovery.
