Under water cameras

I've seen the videos that guys make showing a trout striking a lure. Pretty interesting really. I think it would be cool to do that, but in my case there would be a tremendous amount of time with just a video of the lure! Haha

Any pilots, or wanna be pilots on here?

I would like to know how, just in case I ever need to take over. But otherwise, no interest in being a pilot.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Our daughter and son-in-law are driving up to spend a few days from the Los Angeles area. They had to take a big detour because a snowstorm closed the Grapevine. It is adding about 5 hours to the drive. Thankfully, our family gathering doesn't start until about 6 so they will get here just in time t...

Do you own, or consider owning a jump starter?

My RAM has both a 4 and a 7 pin connector. I currently use the 4 pin plug. After reading Big Terp's comment I checked the owner's manual. Sure enough, pin #1 on the 7 pin connector is for the battery. I still think I am better off leaving well enough alone. But, nice to know in case I change my mind...

Under water cameras

I have a GoPro that has an underwater case. But I have not used it that way. Seems easy enough to mount it to my DR, but I think you are wanting a live view. I suppose that would require a cable, but I'm truly out of my depth here. I was hoping someone would respond. I'm also interested in how this ...

Boat modifications

Nice boat! To add floor you will have to make some supports that match the profile of the hull. I personally would just get some 1-1/2 foam board & cut the semi-circles from that. Sure it will absorb water over 10 years, but you could have the floor easily removable to access them. If you remove ce...

Do you own, or consider owning a jump starter?

Kinda sorta related. Last thing I want is to show up at the ramp with a dead battery. Do they make some kind of trickle charger from the car to the trailer/boat battery? So, the battery would get some charge, if needed, whilst towing the boat to the ramp. Not sure I"m explaining this well. Anyway, ...

Question about this bracket for my jon boat seat

I would put them back in. It would just seem like a good idea to retain structural support that was originally included.

New mercury 40hp

Running from weather is a good reason for some extra speed. Not near as critical but sometimes I have a long run to where I want to fish. Nice to be able to get there comfortably without having to wind the motor up. I can always slow down if conditions warrant.

New mercury 40hp

Do you want to fish or water ski? What's the big attraction to going fast? Down here, the recommended HP rating on a boat means nothing. 14 ft jon's with 35 to 45 hp motors on the are all too common Slow down and enjoy the ride I'm pretty happy cruising to my fishing spots at 28/29 mph. That isn't ...

Where do I buy a new trailer?

OK, in my opinion, it isn't really worth it to try to coat the 2x4's. 2x lumber is pretty cheap. You could probably replace them a few times for the cost of whatever WP paint, varnish, etc material you would use to coat them.

New mercury 40hp

I experienced a similar mph "upgrade". But not from swapping out motors. I went from a 15' 25 HP boat to an 18' 50 HP boat. MPH gain was similar to yours. I went from about 25 MPH tops to 32 mph on the new boat. To me gaining that extra 10 mph is pretty satisfying. Cruising along at 28/29 mph at les...

Where do I buy a new trailer?

Yikes! Seems like it is always something. I've replaced axle & leaf springs before. It was fairly straightforward. I guess it depends on if you like doing stuff yourself. For some things I do and for others, I'm happy to pay someone. Have you priced a new trailer? I've never bought a trailer outrigh...

Quite a rush

Picked up the new ETEC Friday, got it up north and stored in the garage until spring. Super excited the engine looks very cool. Going to be ordering a few items on black friday sale prices for my boat project....Looking forward to spring 2020. That is terrific. If I understand that new ETEC will be...
