The picture of the outside of the transom shows a HIN plate. Get the HIN and google it.

Re: Jon serial#, where? 69 Sears, 14 footer

1969 is before a HIN was required by law. If there was a serial number it would have been on a long lost ID plate or sticker.
It is possible there is a second number stamped somewhere on the boat Look under a seat, bow cap, rear corner cap or transom knee brace.

Re: Old timers formula on a deck?

You don't do coats of old timers. You keep applying it until the plywood won't soak up any more. Then you wipe up the excess it will take 3 days or more to dry.

Exterior grade plywood is all you need. Be sure to seal the plywood and never use pressure treated wood.

Re: 14’ Lund deluxe floor replacement conundrum

Could be time to earn a new skill. Bucking rivets is not hard only takes is a few hand tools or air hammer. Practice on some scrap aluminum. You can also use all aluminum closed end pop rivets sealed with some 3m5200. Stainless steel nuts and bolts would work.

Re: Old timers formula on a deck?

I have used the Old timers formula on plywood transoms and other parts and it works good. It has been used on decks but not by me.
It's almost always used on new plywood I don't if having the plywood previously treated with Thompsons will have an effect on the old timers formula performance.

Re: Welding aluminum without a welder

Been at it again this morning. Decided to remove cheap rivets I put in last week, and fill with these inexpensive brazing rod. I was using the rivets as hole fillers. I would only use these brazing rods as hole - fillers not structural. I need this boat to duck hunt - not for pretty. Cant find a we...

Before drilling any holes to bolt it on, I would take it out for a couple of test drives to see what motor height works best. Once you find that spot, drill the holes and bolt it on.

Re: Questions on a G3

If your tow vehicle can handle the added tongue weight of moving the boat forward on the trailer I'd say go ahead and move it. Will you still be able open the rear door or tailgate if you move the boat on the trailer? You need to find out the actual weight of your boat and trailer. Then you want abo...

Re: Building a sole from untreated wood for alu boat

Use an exterior grade plywood like ABX, BCX or CDX.
Then seal it with old timers formula. It's a home made mix of Boiled linseed oil, Mineral Spirits and Spar urethane or Spar Varnish.
