i have never had a problem with overlap. just don't bother trying to coat completely over the old paint. I would just focus the self etching over the bare allum so the topcoat has something to grab a hold of. the new paint will grab fine to the old paint.
Rustolmem pro grade from home depo or lows is great stuff. Cheap, easy to get and holds well. Just make sure to use self etching primer if you take it down to bare metal or even on spots where the old paint rubbed off.

Does anyone know of a good kill switch with lanyard. I fish a lot with just my little one and was thinking the other day that I need to find one of these just incase I get knocked overboard or something else happens I don't want the going along without me. It would be on a 1963 evinrude 18 hp.
Does any one have a writeup on how to change the seals on an 1963 evinrude 18 hp gear case. That's funny. I said the same thing to my wife. Me and my friend made sure that the front casting deck was a little longer than the original bench. And the front seat mount was flush so she could lay out. Made it much easier to find time to work on the boat after this was explained and shone to her.
