PVC gutter bunk cover question

OK Here's the bunk cover question as I understand it. Yes, carpet will absorb saltwater and corrode your boat. Mine are vinyl coated for that reason. But when you go to retrieve a boat on a ramp, the boat is level in the water and the trailer is on a downward angle. When you bring the boat up to th...

2 new (to me) Tinnies

here is the other one. It measures just shy of 14 feet. There appears to have been a tag up near the bow at one time, but it has long since worn away along with most of the letters stamped there. Registration says "1955 VioHol.

Questions on a G3

Thanks for the replies; I wasn't clear in my post, but I have already bought the boat and brought it home. I think I got it for a good price, and I think the dent was part of the reason for that. It doesn't bother me, but if someone knows a way to get it out myself I would give it a try. There were...

Questions on a G3

Also, G3 can repair that for you if it really bugs you that much. There's an 1860 G3 CCJ on Syracuse Craigslist right now that had a tree fall on it. G3 replaced the gunwale and if the PO had taken the time to paint it before he posted pics of it, I doubt you would even know it had been repaired. Th...

Questions on a G3

Other than the damage you have pointed out, the rest of the boat looks to be in great condition. Accidents do happen. I would insist on a test run, and if everything checks out and you can get it for the right price, go for it! Unless you are still put off by the damage to the gunwale. I think any a...

Sorry this took so long Jim, have had a difficult summer this year. We caught some nice ones, but not huge numbers of fish. Beautiful weather and a week away from work.

OEM foam in seats

Well, not to be a total wisea$$... you know what is a bigger problem to worry about than just having your boat capsized? Having to recover it off the lake floor in 100 feet of water when the EPA is charging you $1000 a day for the environmental damage. Just sayin', cause I've seen it happen. A sunk...

2 new (to me) Tinnies

Saved 2 tinnies from the scrap man. One is a 12' Lone Star. Tag on seat says "Little Fisherman," not sure if that is the model? The pics are the Lone Star. The other one has current registration which says the boat is a...."1955 Viohol," anyone ever hear of that name? I'll have to get some pictures ...

OEM foam in seats

Considering making a battery compartment in one of my side seats that is filled with foam. I've always heard guys say, "don't cut the foam out of your seats, that's for flotation!" My question is, doesn't that only come into play if your boat is capsized? In that case, I'm thinking I'd have a lot b...

I know it as a Mod V Jon.
The bottom is completely flat, it is a Jon boat. Modified V will have some degree of deadrise.

Yeah even serious skiers are getting wrecked and boats swamped by the ballasted buthole surfers out in the morning. I hope this trend fades. we always try to keep wake low for skiing, and give fishermen a good radius, and run long straight lines, but seems there is no courtesy with the type. Ok, my...

All it takes is one @$s hat in a ballast carrying ski-boat to buzz you too close and you can take water over the bow. That foam is the difference between having a swamped boat giving you a nuisance getting back to shore vs. a thousand dollars or more worth of motor, boat and gear sitting on the bot...

Rookie here - Looking for advice from you tin boat experts

Thanks for the replies, good stuff so far. I am in Central OK, Edmond (North OKC) metro area. I plan on heading to lakes North and NE of here primarily. I am going to see the Grizzly 1448 tomorrow just to get a start. Again, as a total novice, are there specific things I should look for? Should I r...

12 volt vs 24 volt

I've been fishin the Susquehanna in PA for 30 years and I've never had a 24v trolling motor. Then again, I only use the trolling motor for boat positioning. If I wanna go upstream I use my outboard. For the first 20 years, all I had was a 12 v 36# Minn Kota. Now I have a 55#. I fish the Potomac pri...
