Tomahawk Nationals 2019

Would you happen to know Allan Nacke? He lives right on the Tippecanoe River down in Battleground, In. Lesa and I went to his house on the Monday following Tomahawk and enjoyed their hospitality. What a great guy and amazing shop and outboard collection! No, I can't say I do. I'm not really a part ...

Tomahawk Nationals 2019

Cool stuff.

We've been to several MOB meets at Webster Lake In.
One of the guys there has several Clarke Trollers, by far my favorite motor.

Additives - Ring Free vs. StarTron?

 I think you're stirring the pot. I use ringfree because Yamaha sez I should. I don't use very much, so what the heck. If I used a lot of fuel I might reconsider. I've never used any fuel additive in any other engine I've owned in the past 50 or so years, never had a fuel related issue. They g...

EFI and Carb motor storage?

Oh, VST, I was thinking fuel / water separator.
Regardless, I don't drain either.

I do run ringfree and stabilizer every tank.
Who knows if it actually does anything, but
for the little bit I use, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

EFI and Carb motor storage?

I have a Yamaha. Last trip out I add stabilizer / conditioner to my fuel (non ethanol) at Yamaha's recommended ratio for extended storage. When I get home I disconnect the fuel line at the motor, connect a small container of fuel mixed up with Yamaha's EFI Fogging Oil & some more stabilizer, and run...

Prop

Anyone have real data on RPM difference between the Yamaha 11 1/4 and the 10 1/2 pitch props. See my thread re-propping a 2017 F25SWHC: https://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=44985 To summarize, I gained ~700 RPM, ~2 MPH: 11-1/4, WOT was 24ish MPH @ 5400 RPM 10-1/2 WOT is 26ish MPH @ 61...

transducer mounting

That's the general idea, get it in the cleanest water you can.
How big a difference does it really make? I'm not sure.
How much "clean" water is really there behind a planed hull?

Get a mounting plate for it, so you're free to experiment
with placement without turning your stern into swiss cheese.

Junkyard 14' Mirrocraft brought back from the dead.

I think if you email Mirrocraft the hull number they can tell you the model. Is that the OEM paint? Mine was originally yellow. Unfortunately the previous owner painted it battle ship grey with rustoleum, peeling now, looks like hell. It is nice not having to worry about scratches and such though.

Bilge pump float switches

Well, I bought & just returned an Ultima 600 to Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000R4PFUO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The field effect switch seemed to work well, however the pump cavitated about halfway between the high and low limits. It would stop pumping water and...

Guide on posts

I bought a few feet of 1" & 1 1/2" pvc, a couple snap buttons, & a few bolts. Cobbled together with a little scrap lumber, & voila, ghetto guide on. Think I have $15 into it (maybe). I just need them for backing up the empty trailer, loading the boat isn't an issue for me, they probably wouldn't las...

Side imaging fish finder that wont break the bank?

How much is in the bank?
You can get DI in a Humminbird Piranhamax 4 for ~$150.
You might also consider a used unit a generation or two older than current.

2005 25HP johnson prop nut torque ?

My F25 service manual says torque to spec (25 ft lbs), then tighten further to align cotter pin.

If you determine the thread size you can get a generic torque value that'll be close enough.

Google "torque value chart".
