Re: Wide Jon Boats

I sold my 36" wide jon boat and have been searching for a 48" bottom boat. They sure are hard to find these days, and very expensive too. Here in NC 48" isn't really considered wide anymore. My little one is 48" and my big one is 72". I still laugh when I see a "double wide" listed on CL and it is ...

Re: Is a 4hp a waste of time for me?

I am the worlds worst to want to GO when I go. But if you have a question if it is worth it, grab a paddle. If you get it and maintain it well and don't beat it and bang it around most times you will not loose much money on it when you decide to sell it and move up.

Re: Power trim and tilt vs underwater objects?

I live in/run in rocky/stumpy areas all my life. I use my boat for hunting out of as much as fishing and do a lot of messing around at night coon hunting. This requires a bunch of tooling around in extremely shallow water. Your trim/tilt will not move. It is either going to tear the transom or lowe...

Re: Classic Fifty Power Trim Issue on Bass Tracker 17TX

Without seeing a diagram of the system if you say with just ONE wire hooked to the battery it is still drawing power it has to be grounded somewhere also. But the PT switches actuate relays, have you checked them to see if by coincidence one is stuck?

Trolling Motor

Good Morning, I just picked up a T47 Motorguide trolling motor used , and it has only high gear. Would anybody know if it’s worth fixing or leave the way it is? It’s going on a 16 ft Jon boat. I can’t find a manual on line or really too much about this unit. I think I read somewhere that the head c...

I would second the head gasket, probably a fairly small leak at this time since it isn't showing up in the running. Fairly easy fix.

Mercury 9.9 gearcase drain/fill plug seals?

Some of them are once and done, for the price it really isn't worth the chance.

RPM Readings and Prop Selection

I am betting a 19P will be waaaaaay too much prop for that 40. You didn't elaborate on what size boat etc. but I can't remember ever running a 19 on a 40.

Help on my motor height

Thank you for the replies. After reading the replies to my post and all the other info out there. I just ordered the Vance plate. I may not be able to use the full 5”, but I like the adjustability without having to load up and go home. I should be able to adjust in the water or from shore and try d...

Help on my motor height

I have a boat the same size with an aftermarket TT that sets back 5". I also have a 25 I find that with the setback mine runs best with the cavitation plate about 2" above the bottom of the transom. Before I had the TT with the setback it wouldn't even think of running at that height.
